Football: Thompson goes in 7th round

Former Cal cornerback Syd’Quan Thompson has been selected by the Denver Broncos in the seventh round of the NFL Draft (225th overall). This is a little later than most projections, although Thompson himself didn’t rule out the possibility of not getting drafted at all.

There are about 20 selections remaining. Offensive tackle Mike Tepper is the only other realistic possibility for a former Cal player to be drafted, although one recent mock draft had wide receiver Verran Tucker going late in the seventh round.
