Football: APR scores

By Jonathan Okanes

The NCAA released its annual APR scores today, and Cal’s football team had another strong showing. The Bears had an APR of 969, which puts the team in the 80th-90th percentile nationally. The mark also is second in the Pac-10 behind Stanford.

The APR is a measure of academic progress used by the NCAA to monitor the status of athletic programs. Sports must have a minimum APR of 925 to avoid certain penalties, such as loss of scholarships.

speaking of progress, with sanctions coming down tomorrow, i’m lobbying for a “pac-10 champions” tshirt promotion for opening day this season.

Is there a listing of school rankings?

Of course when players are railroaded into “gimmee” type classes what do you expect? I know an advisor at your school who works with football players. He isn’t very bright so what does that say about your players.
