Football: Pre-vacation links
By Jonathan Okanes

Today is my last day before I take a couple weeks of vacation time. I will have a few more posts before I go. To begin with, here are a few links:
–Here’s an update on the construction around Memorial Stadium and how it will effect home games this season.
–A look at Cal’s new Gameday T-shirt.
–As expected, USC filed an appeal to have some of its NCAA sanctions overturned.

“The University recognizes that violations of NCAA rules did occur, especially involving impermissible benefits going to student athletes as well as their friends and families…” said Todd Dickey, USC’s senior vice president for administration.
Even U$C admits they cheated. U$C fans need to accept that FACT.

USC’s appeal specifically asks that the two-year postseason ban in football be reduced to a one-year ban, and that the scholarship penalties in football for the 2011-12, 2012-13, and 2013-14 academic years be reduced to five rather than 10 each year. “We are hopeful that the NCAA Infractions Appeals Committee will agree with our position on appeal, and reduce the penalties,” said Dickey.
When did the criminals get to dictate the punishment. If they win their appeal, they would essentially get a slap on the wrist.
I hope they increase their punishment!!! Arrogant f@cks!

as always our game day t-shirst looks like stuff people wear for a saturday morning benefit drive of sort instead of a college football game. why cant they come up with something more fun looking? while we are on the same topic am i the only one who feels Oski could use a long overdue makeover? i think these are some of the settle changes, though important, our AD needs to look into as we continue to transform our program into a successful and exciting one so that fans are excited to support. successful programs are built on a strong and passionate fan base and so it is important to create that excitement through the little things.

I wouldn’t mind to see different styles for game day shirts, but LEAVE OSKI ALONE! I thought Oregon & ucla looked ridiculous when updating their mascots. As the oldest school in the Pac-10 we should embrace our traditions.

DON’T MESS WITH OSKI!!

Hi BlueNGold
I guess this is your forum now since I understand you have just been banned again over at SF Gate. LOL. I have to hand it too you. You lasted 5 more months than your past 4 or 5 s/ns. Enjoy your favorite holiday today.

Moron, you do not know me and you do not know what you are talking about (no big surprise there). Just to educate you, (1) I have never been banned at SFGate; (2) I do not, nor have I ever, used multiple screen names, but if I did, I would, unlike you, admit it; and (3) I do not, nor have I ever, post under the name ‘misterpeabody’, either here, on SFGate, or anywhere.
Now that we have gotten that out of the way, do you have anything intelligent or constructive to offer, or just more of the same mindless drivel?

Just more of the same mindless drivel.

Larry,
They already got one of their sanctions waived.
Don’t be surprised if more ‘adjustments’ will occur.
Whining works in large media market areas.

Gee, five days later and no response from moron? I guess when you are embarrassed and made to look like a fool, its best to lay low and hope everyone forgets.
