Basketball: Randle now with Wiz and Wall

Ex-Cal star Jerome Randle, one week after playing for the Orlando Magic in the Orlando NBA summer league, is wearing a Washington Wizards uniform in Las Vegas. But the Pac-10 Player of the Year did not get off the bench Monday night in the Wizards’ 89-64 rout of the Clippers. Randle scored six points in his Sunday debut with the Wiz.

Top draft choice John Wall had 18 points, 10 assists and eight turnovers for Washington. The former Kentuckt point guard is averaging  21 points, nine assists and eight turnovers through two games.

Former Cal player Rod Benson had two rebounds but was scoreless in a brief stint for the Clippers.

In other summer league play:

— Ex-Saint Mary’s College and San Ramon Valley HS star Omar Samhan had nine points and nine rebounds for the Mavericks in a 73-72 overtime loss to the Bucks. The rookie center is averaging 13.0 ppg and 7.5 rpg through two games.

— Second-round draft choice Landry Fields of Stanford had a game-high 17 points, along with five rebounds, three steals and two blocks in the Knicks’ 71-63 win over the Lakers. Fields is averaging 15.0 points and 5.0 rebounds through two games.

— One-time Stanford forward Lawrence Hill had eight points and six rebounds as the Suns beat D-League Select 96-88.

— On Sunday night, former Saint Mary’s College point guard Patty Mills had 12 points, nine assists and seven rebounds in 26 1/2 minutes of Portland’s 84-69 defeat of Houston.
