Charlie – Kennard was recruited by Cal for the hybrid spot. USC recruited him for OLB. He has sinced shifted to the middle, overtaking former #1 recruit Galippo. It goes to show that recruiting rankings are not always the most telling.

Does anyone remember what that LB from Brawley was ranked? Go Bears!

USC gets Oregon, Cal, Washington, and ASU at home. They will probably lose 1 of those games. They get Arizona, Stanford, Oregon State, UCLA, and Wazzu on the road. They will lose 2 or maybe 3 of those games. If they beat Oregon at home, they get 3rd in the Pac 10 with a 6-3 record and the tie-breaker.

All this and with Lane Kiffin as the new head coach, I wouldn’t rank USC as high as 4th. It will be a long year for the Trojans and their fans. Until of course, December arrives, then it’s over no matter what they do.

The nice thing about this is that sc tickets should be much easier to come by. In ’98 when the Bears beat sc at the colisseum, I bought 2 15th row 35 yard line seats under face 30 min.before kick off. In ’00, when we beat them, Cal section end zone seats were less than $20 and readily availble at game time before kick off. In ’04, rim seats were going for $100.

I spoke with Coach Tedford last night at a Cal Alumni event in New York and he had some great insights on USC and Kiffin. Seeing as both are now being sued by the Tennessee Titans, I am glad that Cal has a stand up guy and true class act as head coach.
