Everyone should read Jon Wilner's column about Pac 10 media day, and particularly the remarks about Cal's athletic dept. funding issues. Those critical of what Larry Scott has been doing with expansion of the conference need to understand the impact that the current funding shortfall will have on athletic dept. programs across the board, at all conference schools, if significant changes are not brought about in the near future. I understand that this blog is all about Cal football, but serious Cal sports fans should be concerned about the impact that a significant downsizing of the athletic dept. programs will have not only on the department itself but on the university as a whole. Furthermore, its foolish to think that the football program itself will not be significantly impacted by such a downsizing.

Just wondering

If Whiteside goes to a JC, would he play football there? Would that be better than coming to Cal and redshirting?
