Football: Samuels out for season

Reserve defensive back Vachel Samuels will have surgery next week for a broken foot and miss the season, coach Jeff Tedford said today. Samuels, a redshirt freshman, suffered the injury Saturday during the first day of training camp. Samuels wasn’t expected to get significant playing time this season.
