Multiple sources are reporting that Cal has received an oral commitment from Massachusetts tight end Richard Rodgers. He is ranked as the 12th-best tight end in the country by rivals.com and picked Cal over a handful of other major schools, including Oregon and Notre Dame. this is great news. we never seem to land the #1 overall, at any position, but we keep sending guys to the NFL that end up making a huge impact. i’m proud of what the cal coaching staff has done, and continues to do.

Not to mention his dad was involved in The Play, he’s got a lot of connection to the Cal family.

No mention of his personal ties to Cal? (Hint: it’s kind of major, in terms of Cal history…see #2 above.)

It is really nice to see legacy players come to Cal. Rodgers and Will Kapp. No team will ever duplicate The Play EVER…or even get close.

Milo, 5 words: PAC-10 Championship and Rose Bowl Berth. The Play is a thing of beauty, but grabbing the biggest thing that has escaped the bear claw in 50 year, priceless.

OMG…when the biggest play in the school’s football history is some fluke play which is no longer rated as the #1 play in college football what does that say as to how sorry is this program.
