Based on Hawkins’ quote immediately following the line, Henderson likely meant to describe what Memorial was like before Tedford turned the program around. Cavernous, nowhere close to sold out, and with a quiet crowd sounds pretty apt from about 1996-2001.

If he meant what it is like now, then obviously he has no clue and will learn a thing or two on Saturday.

Roudy? Well we’re definitely not roudy which is a good thing. I love Cal fans because we’re so classy. But loud. Heck yea we’re loud. Maybe not as loud when we’re winning by 49 points but we’re still loud.

John Henderson clearly knows not of what he speaks.

I’ve been part of MANY (MANY) loud, raucous, fault-quaking games at Memorial in recent years. We may not always sell out, but you’d never know it by looking–or listening–around.

Henderson just wants the Colorado readers think that we’re a bunch of hicks with zero regard for our local football team. He has to give those fans reason to hope they’ve got an easy game coming up.

Rowdy, as in…what? Not being ‘rowdy’ might be a good thing, depending on how the word is used. If ‘rowdy’ means not loud, then I would also be offended, except its just not true.

According to John Henderson of the Denver Post:

“Cal’s Memorial Stadium is cavernous, doesn’t sell out often and isn’t known for its rowdy crowds.”

That makes me sick! Come on Bear fans we need to put a stop to this reputation and show the Buffs what they can expect in the years ahead!
