Football: Thursday quick notes

The Bears wrapped  up their week of practice this morning, save for tomorrow’s walkthrough. Not a whole lot of news this week. Cal coach Jeff Tedford said today that there are no changes to the starting lineup or two-deep. He did say that Matt Summers-Gavin would play some on Saturday, even if they don’t get involved in a lopsided game. They want to get Summers-Gavin some playing time, and even though he won’t start, he will get into the game. Tedford also said Summers-Gavin could play tackle or guard.

Tedford also said reserve tight end Jarrett Sparks will be a gametime decision. He is still battling the ankle injury he suffered against UC Davis, and it is unclear if he will be able to play at this point. If he is out, true freshman Jacob Wark moves up to the No. 3 spot behind Anthony Miller and Spencer Ladner.
