Cal announced its basketball schedule, complete with starting times and TV info. You can find it here. About time, right?. Don’t blame Cal. TV sets most of the times, and is rarely in a rush to do so.
Also, a reminder that the Bears will stage a free open practice Wednesday at Haas Pavilion from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Yes, that coincides roughly with the first three innings of Game 1 in the World Series . . . what are you going to do?
Seriously, what are you going to do? Get your first in-person glimpse of the young Bears or watch the Giants begin their quest for their first World Championship since arriving in S.F. in 1958? Share your thoughts.

Seriously?
That’s simple.
I’m going to “DVR” the Giants and go get my first in-person glimpse of the young Bears.
The pre-season viewing of the teams in person is really hard to beat – it sets up viewing enjoyment (from a personnel and tactical standpoint) for the entire season. So, when you get down the stretch, and people (or myself) are saying “put in Max” or, “why doesn’t such and such do this or that”, I feel I have an understanding, an answer. And when someone like Max DOES come in a scores 12 points with 3 or 4 blocks (Stanford game), I can say “wow – Coach Montgomery’s really gotten that player to improve.
The preseason is the best time to see where they start out at! Why would anyone miss it?

uh oh, if you could be so kind as to submit a detailed report as a comment, i think a bunch of us would appreciate it. i don’t live in CA, so i can’t be there, unfortunately.

epsn hates the pac10, except for the perennial powerhouses like az and ucla. we need to consistently play AND SUCCEED in the tourney before anyone will care about cal on the east coast. beating up on iowa state, at iowa state, might help. the old spice tourney is on espn2. that’s a great chance to show the world what we’re about. but what are we about?

This is going to be a tough one for most Cal fans to attend. If it were a game, for sure Cal over the world series. For practice, sorry, but most people are going to go to/watch the world series.
Hope the players and coaches understand.

5 – 6:30 ? I get out of work at 5:30. I would get to Haas if I left straight from work at about 6:30.
Ask the players if they can stay late and shoot around some more for me.
