Football: Brock Mansion

One thing to keep in mind when evaluating Brock Mansion: He’s only been the backup quarterback for two weeks, meaning he’s only been getting legitimate reps for two weeks. It’s a tough enough assignment playing your first significant snaps in a game, but tougher when you haven’t really been part of the offense during practice very long.

last year osu took out jahvid. this year riley. I don’t want anyone to play dirty, but in a game we can’t win, I’d like cal to focus on sending a message, and possibly a couple osu players to the trainers bench with scalding hits

That’s nuts. Both injuries were just freak plays (this year, Riley just got rolled up on – could happen to any QB, there was nothing dirty about it).

JO, this is EXACTLY why Tedford should have played Brock (or Beau) midway through the 3rd quarter of the SC game. Saying that Kevin “put is in the best position to win” when the game was out of hand was delusional; at worst, it deprived us of the opportunity to have a 2nd string get meaningful snaps which would be necessary in the event of an injury to Riley, which, as we see, became the reality.

That’s definitely an illegal tackle in the NFL (the Tom Brady rule), but I’m pretty sure it’s still legit in college. It’s tough for Riley to go out this way, all the best in the future Kevin and thanks for the good times.

What a huge throw by Brock Mansion to Michael Calvin in the 42 yard pass attempt!
