We may not get more information on Kevin Riley’s injury until after the game, but it’s clearly something serious. The real question right now is whether it is season-ending or not.

Kevin Riley now has a brace on his knee and has crutches. He was carted off the field moments ago, presumably to get X-rays.

Cal appears to have an extra bounce in its collective step in pregame. The Bears seem more demonstrative than usual — lots of clapping and jumping around. Perhaps they are making an extra effort to be ready on the road at kickoff.

For the record, the reason I haven’t posted Cal’s captains the past couple weeks is because they are the same every week. In years past, there usually was one permanent offensive captain and one permanent defensive captain, then one rotating captain on both sides of the ball. But this year, it’s been a constant — quarterback Kevin Riley, center Chris Guarnero, linebacker Mike Mohamed and defensive end Cameron Jordan.
