A hyperextension injury, like the one he sustained, usually takes out the MCL and Anterior Cruciate. Given the degree of swelling he has (per the article), I would bet that will be the final results. He's headed for the knife and a 6-8 month rehab.

I have been a fan of this kid's competitiveness and grit, although his execution and decision-making have been questionable, at key moments. I appreciate everything he has brought to the program and wish him a healthy and prosperous future.

Tedford didn't help carry him off- he met him on the sidelines, talked to him face to face with his hands on each side of Riley's shoulder pads,he tosseled his hair and gave Riley a kiss on the forehead. It was actually a very classy move, but also one that was clearly heartfelt and emotional.

I thought it was one of those very special moments- I wish Tedford could show that love more often- it would help him and the team, I think.

Tedford helping to carry him off the field was one of the classiest things I’ve ever witnessed. Great man.
---------------------------
Wow, the game wasn't televised so I didn't see it. Tedford is the definition of class. I don't want another coach regardless (maybe a different O coordinator) but to have a coach with that much integrity really means something to me on a personal level. We don't have no douchey coach like Nick "the fake" Saban or Urban "I'm goin' retire, na just kidding" Meyer. Tedford is a proven coach and has coached up several first round NFL QBs. When he's got the talent, he's produced and he's always, win or lose, the classiest man on the field.

Two things:

1) Tedford helping to carry him off the field was one of the classiest things I've ever witnessed. Great man.

2) I hope Kevin gets a shot at being a graduate assistant. I know he didn't always play the best or make the best decisions in-the-moment. But he always knew what he was SUPPOSED to do. He's a smart guy who Tedford clearly likes and is a student of the game. Why not make him a teacher! I would love to see him on the sideline for the Bears.

Whatever happens I wish him the very best. His life is far from over. I think one could say it's just beginning...

These scary injuries always remind me of Bryant Young. Let's hope that within the scope of things everything is okay. I'm guessing a leg break and all 3 ligaments are torn. But hopefully it's an injury he can recover from that doesn't endanger his ability to have a normal life.

I've critiqued Riley a lot. And I feel like he's been a bad quarterback often, and a mediocre quarterback at his best. But he's a human being and a young man, with a bright future ahead of him and hopefully a lot of healthy years. I hope he recovers as best he can and remembers that he's a Cal Golden Bear no matter what career he pursues. Hang in there.
