Jake Locker fractured a rib and will not play this weekend against Oregon. Whether he returns to play against Cal on November 27, 2010, remains unknown.
Prognosis for rib fractures treated with conservative nonsurgical methods: The injury will heal in 6 to 10 weeks, but the injury may be quite painful during that healing period. If surgery is performed, the rib should heal in about 6 weeks, if there are no problems affecting bone healing.
Perhaps Locker’s season is over.

If I were Locker I would marinate and not play or practice a single snap the rest of the year.
Buy a little bit of jewelry and get ready for the big paycheck on draft day.

Locker’s poor senior year is the answer to why many Cal players leave early for the NFL: if the money is there, take it. Whose to say even Cammeron Morrah would have been better to stay at Cal.
You never know what will happen in this violent team game.
Locker drops a few spots in the draft evey time he takes the field.
Remember when Mel Kieper tabbed Nate Longshore as the best sophomore QB? I think he used a redshirt and therefore could have entered the draft after his Holiday Bowl success. Life is strange.
