The Cal-Oregon game is being promoted on TV back east …
gawd, what an opportunity for a national embarrassment that will kill recruiting
or an opportunity for a HUGE upset of the top ranked team.
This is no longer an ordinary PacX game. It’s in prime time.
Go Bears (please)
Amen! Brother Jim.
I get JT’s philosophy of enforcing your will over the opposing team but I sure he puts in every gadget play in the book against the quacks.
…And for the JT naysayers, Dan Hawkins got fired. He was the golden boy at Boise who – I’m pretty sure was HC when they beat Oklahoma. Peterson is a great coach but so were Hawkins and Koetter based on their Boise records as HC.
Ducks came in 4 years ago when Dennis Dixon had a hot hand and they got smashed and plucked. Hopefully we see that again. Playing at home will make the difference. Go Bears!!
Hawkins was not the Boise St. coach when they beat Oklahoma- Chris Peterson was. Boise was good with Koetter and Hawkins, but they were not great coaches and both bolted for “greener” pastures before sustaining long term success. The Broncos have stepped up several levels into the stratosphere since they left with Peterson as HC. So your point is mostly baseless.
Dan nailed – Peterson is the one who engineered the hook and ladder and statute of liberty plays to beat OU in what may have been the greatest bowl game ever.
With Nate Costa’s injury, I hear Oregon’s backup QB is a freshman who has not played; they don’t want him to play in order to preserve the redshirt.
Will that limit Oregon’s playbook to avoid injury to Thomas?
Grasping at threads. Hope springs eternal.
My bad on Boise HC for Ok game. My point – made badly – is that Koetter brought Boise to prominence and Hawkins kept them there. They were – at the time – golden boy coaches like Neuheisel, Sarkesian (sp) and Kiffin.
