Unless the defense scores a touchdown, I have no confidence in our ability to win. The Tedford Offense jumped the shark years ago. We've been a one dimensional joke on that side of the ball for the past six seasons (2006 was the only remotely decent year in the passing game, and even then it struggled).

Tedford either needs to figure out how to make his offense work again, or move on.

Everyone thought we would lose last year. We won. Everyone thinks we are going to lose this year. All I know is that we are at home, and at home this team has a chance to do anything, just like it proved last weekend even if we didn't win.

Cal's offense - with or without Riley - has been pretty much pathetic against good teams all year. For the first time in the Tedford era, it appears the Bears will go an entire season without beating a team with a winning record.

Yes, I am already conceding a loss to Stanford. There is no way in hell that Cal will win with that offense. Stanford is very predictably going to load the box and dare Mansion to throw. The kid might be good next year, but right now he is locking down on his primary receiver and has ZERO ability to check down on secondary receivers. Did anyone besides me notice that Cal's receivers were just smothered everytime Mansion tried to stretch the field with a downfield throw? Vereen will put up a heroic effort and will probably squeeze out another 100-yard game, but it won't be enough.

The difference in the game will be the offensive lines, and Stanford's is vastly superior. The Stanford biggies will provide enough protection for Luck to pick apart the Cal secondary. If you want a blueprint for Saturday's game, just look for what Oregon State did to Cal last year at Memorial. I'm thinking 31-14 Cardinal. I will be delighted, no delirious, if I am wrong.

Holding Oregon's offense, the #1 offense in the country, has nothing to do with stopping or slowing down Stanford up. Stanford runs a pro-style offense, with a strong, powerful line with a great QB running the show- sound like any other team we played this season? Just like SC. We didn't do a very good job stopping them.

I think one of the reasons we were successful vs. Oregon is that we had already seen an option attack twice this season, and by this 3rd game, we had gotten the hang of defensing the option and the assignment defense required to slow down/stop the option. Taking nothing away form the D, they did a terrific job, but this week is a completely different story. Using last game as a predictor of how the defense will play against the Cardinal is specious.

I am more convinced than ever that we will win the Big Game.

If we can hold the #1 offense in the nation to 15 points and one offensive TD, then we can beat a team that struggled against the same Arizona State team we demolished 50-17.

Go Bears!!

we need some offense. kind of simple as that. our secondary might also get shredded. oregon didn't pass much at all. we're solid against the run. we need to win this game. if we lose, even if we beat washington, we don't deserve to go to a bowl game.
