I find it quite interesting that Monty acknowledges that his Bears got tired, and that's what led to the poor play. I already commented how I thought it was interesting, and a troubling sign, how Monty used such a short rotation of players in Florida.

And now he's saying he knows they were tired and down on themselves.... Well, for God's sake? Why leave them in there to do more damage? Normally a coach will yank a guy like that in 2 seconds flat. Is Monty trying to teach Franklin something by letting him try and fail his own way?

Many mentors break people down and then build them up in their own mold. Anyone with military experience understands this concept. In this vain, Braun would have pulled a kid with a wince or two and left him feeling bad about himself on the bench, knowing he was punished. This can lead to resentment and bitterness for being shamed and taken off the floor after a mistake. It can lead to tentativeness, which you don't want in a basketball player - they have to play with instinct, rhythm, and confidence in order to sink heady shots!

Is the Monty method going to be that he lets individuals try and fail on their own, realize it themselves eventually, and THEN they start to listen to what the coach is saying??

Or maybe Monty just feared that alternatives coming off the bench, which, as stated, is a troubling sign.

I'm totally okay with the guard play, the missed shots, and the big adjustment to D1 ball by the freshmen. In Monty I trust, and it's merely going to be interesting to watch him work his craft.

But like I said, just PLEASE bring in some "big" recruits or it's going to be a long few seasons. I am sure this at the TOP of the staff's list.

Regarding Rossi - that's pretty serious if he's going to be lost for the year even before he plays a single game. At first it was termed a "lower abdominal strain". Now it's a "groin injury"???

What gives? This is a real problem for me to accept b/c the one time I saw him play, in the intra-squad practice, I saw a guy who knew how to play within his own game. He would come down the floor, setup quickly at his spot behind the 3 and wait for the ball - then fired up sweet looking J's.

And this is what Jay John had to say about him early on, no? Didn't he say he thought Rossi hadn't missed a shot yet, as quoted in one of JF's reports here?

Such a player would surely provide Monty with a nice alternative/substitute to Franklin when he presses too much.

I'd be glad to hear more about this unfortunate development.

Hey Folks!

Look at that UCD Roster. Is that former Bear Eddie Miller?! (I think you got the last name mixed up, JF).
Let's show Eddie some love, tonight, Bears. I always thought he had something just waiting to come out, but he never got his chance. Glad to see he's doing well at Davis.

Rollon:
This team is NOT going to be incredible in a year b/c we don't have any interior size or depth. I've been saying that for a long time. We never had a total stud in there, and then losing Max and Amoke just killed us. I admit, those losses are not Monty's fault.

Next year doesn't change anything. We have just one skinny recruit coming in place of MSF. And the year after that you got Kamp gone. It's just imperative to recruit more inside!

it's a little painful, but they're still fun to watch. this team could be incredible in a year. we still need a big man though. preferably one who can shoot a free throw.
