While Cal was beating Hartford, Stanford (7-4) closed out its pre-conference schedule with a 60-44 home victory over Yale. The Cardinal is 6-0 at Maples Pavilion, the site of Sunday’s Pac-10 opener vs. Cal.
Yale actually led 27-26 at halftime, which isn’t as bad as it sounds. The Bulldogs (5-6) own a road win over Boston College.
Stanford held Yale to 17 second-half points and got 15 points from Jeremy Green, 12 from Josh Owens.
Green sprained his ankle late in the game and did not return.
“He rolled his ankle pretty good,” Stanford coach Johnny Dawkins said. “Under different circumstances, he could have played the last three or four minutes. We’ll see how he is tomorrow, if there’s any swelling.”
