I think it was interesting for me to observe myself being wow’ed by the quality of play by these two teams. After watching lots of “Cal level” play, both teams showed significantly superior shooting and offense. Perspective.

Both teams are much better than Cal and should kill us in Pac10 play. But… they don’t play the games on paper.

Impressed with the shooting of Thompson (quick release), Aden (started 7 for 7, “swish”), and the overall floor quickness of Moore. And their inside guys didn’t do a bad job either. At least they were active and making some plays!

For UCLA, Honeycutt, Lee, and Jones hit some bombs in the 2nd, which was very impressive. Like, make it stop. Smith is huge. And Reeves is just a VERY tough physical force down low. And to think he has 2 more years after this season? Sheesh. It would have been fun to watch him and Leon Powe push on each other! Powe would have won, but still – a good battle.

If USC pushed UW to OT, then, man USC appears to truly be another good teams. I fear it’s going to be a long season for our Bears. Maybe the Pac10 is split: 5 good teams on top, and 5 bad teams below. Monty will surely have to wait until next season to reach 610, let alone get into the teens. Maybe we can get some W’s in the CBI, which appears to accept sub .500 teams.

If Monty can win 9 games in League play, I will give him tons of credit. Not to mention that would make us NIT eligible.
