DiscDude:

I don't think I was BLAMING Gino or Maya for the loss. I think more I was commenting on the psychology of it, and isn't that interesting.

It's not their fault, per se, that Uconn lost. And they did not INTENTION to lose. But lose they did, and I think if winning that game meant more to them, they would have done some things differently to obtain a different outcome. Stanford still might have won, but I think there are some different behaviors we would have seen out of them.

I trust you enjoy my notes!

Uh oh, are you retired? You comment on every game!

I don't think you can blame Auriemma or Moore for losing one out of 91! Damn, what a streak. If Uconn wanted to avoid losing until the NCAAs, they wouldn't have scheduled Stanfurd on the road. Kudos to them for doing that, knowing what a difficult game it would be. Auriemma wanted them tested and they were (Tennessee won't schedule UConn any more due to the Auriemma/Summit feud). Now they'll be more than ready for a NC again because the pressure of 110 to 115 straight might have been too much. And my money would be on UConn in a March rematch, this is exactly what Auriemma was thinking when he scheduled it, lose and they'll work harder/get better, win and they'll know they have Stanfurd's number. Genius.

Only saw the last meaningless minutes of the ASU/OSU surprise after watching the Stanford women dismantle the Maya Moore show. What a great display of team defense. They were bodying her all over the court, and switching on every screen so that Moore really had a hard time getting open. Stanford's size meant that anyone who switched was up to the task. Moore should have gone Michael Jordan on them and driven to the basket more, but it didn't happen.

Where were the Auriemma calls for her to "take over this game!!!" like in last year's title game? He/She didn't do it. Wanting to lose? Wanting to show/teach the new youngins' that losing is possible if you don't step up? They seemed to lay down a bit too easily, based on what we know of their competitiveness from the past. Neither go down without more of a fight if it's an elimination game.

Great win. But, Rematch in March!
When it counts.
