Football: Bears get Lopa

Cal has received a commitment from defensive end Puka Lopa, the Grant-Sacramento High teammate of top recruit Viliami Moala. That ups Cal’s class to 21 players.
Cornerback Kameron Jackson still could be in play for Cal. It will be interesting to see where he ends up tomorrow. He still is reportedly a commit to Washington, but Cal may still have a chance.
The Bears also could be making a late push for safety Marqise Lee, but he’s considered a long shot at the moment.

Lopa is said to have great passing skills and size but lacks speed- read that somewhere.

Welcome, Lopa! We’re building some tremendous depth on the D-Line and nice to see us continue to recruit well at Grant HS-Sacramento.

TxSteve- dont know where that info on lack of speed came from. Here’s a link to the hometown Sac Bee article: http://blogs.sacbee.com/preps/archives/2011/02/grants-puka-lop.html
State Champ Folsom High Coach calls him “the best sideline to sideline pursuit guy I’ve ever seen.” Got to have some quicks to do that I’d say.
Great pickup for Cal! Great job Tosh! #GoBears!
