I agree with Steve about the comparisons of our recruits to Portland St. and Seattle vs. the guys that UCLA and Arizona are bringing.
You know, next year UCLA is going to have the Wear twins to go with Joshua Smith, Lane, and Nelson Reeves. Will there be a better front court in America?
AZ has the 8th rated class nationally for 2011.
But we are 10th in the Pac10, and competing with Portland St and Seattle for recruits.
Huh????

Whatever. It appears that Monty will take that middling talent and be able to field a competitive team nonetheless.
Just look at what Brandon Smith did last night to Oregon.

JF, do you think this kid can become a strong presence inside and on the block or is that just not him? His scouting reports say he’s a SF/wing type.

He is healthy. Had ACL reconstructive surgery last February and averaged about 21 ppg/10 rpg this season. I did an extensive blog item last week can you can by scrolling back a couple pages.

If Cal can get a quality kid that wants to play and go to school, great…hard to argue. Hoops-wise, the Bears really need some big pounders for the front court.

just looking at pictures, he looks like a sharp guy that could be kind of like allen crabbe, but the espn writeup suggests he gets tossed around in the paint and blew out his knee as a junior. i hope that has healed and he can beef up a bit, but these are pretty valid reasons for his not being a high recruit.
