Football: Roster changes
By Jonathan Okanes
Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011 at 11:21 am in Football, off-season stuff.
The following players won’t be on the spring roster and aren’t returning to the team:
TE Savai’i Eselu
RB Langston Jackson
OL Ed Johnston
WR Alex Lagemann
K David Seawright
OL Charles Siddoway
Lagemann and Seawright had already been reported. There has been talk about Siddoway previously, and it appears he indeed is out because of academics. I’ve heard he could try to come back to Cal at some point, but that remains to be seen.

Early told my son in a class over two years ago that after he signed on the dotted line he thought, ” Screw it, I get a free education”. He scammed Cal from the get go.

Eselu, not early. Damn autocorrect.

Too bad about Siddoway. He was going to be a big plus for the OL. A weak OL gets weaker.

Hey, he was given a scholarship, it’s his perogative how he wants to play it. There is only so much time in college and clearly he decided to focus on academics which is important to him. I don’t think you can fault a kid for that.

Can’t say as I blame anyone who chooses to leave this team by choice. After Year 9, Tedford is still making the same mistakes he made in Year 1 and, with a noob QB I imagine that more than a few are asking themselves “what’s the use”? As a Cal alumnus (for going on 35 years, now) I’m asking myself that very question.
Without Tedford, there’s always hope that Barbour could bring in some Knight in Shining Armor to save the day (like she did with Montgomery). With Tedford? Just another $2.4 million down the rat hole

Stay Calm. Maynard and Bridgeford will be serviceable QB’s

Kinda harsh bearissimo, you obviously forgot our years preceding tedford… We could probably get holmoe or gilbertson back to refresh your memory, but unlike you, some cal fans enjoy going to bowl games.

Too bad for rb Langston Jackson, I thought he was going to be the dark horse sleeper. He reminded me of a mix between Eric Dickerson and Chuck Muncie. I hope he shows up somewhere else.
