Nobody has ever questioned Jeremy Ross in terms of sheer physical traits. Ross has terrific speed and is built like a truck. That combination allows him to definitely pass the eye test, which he did during Pro Day.
Ross never emerged as a top-level receiver at Cal, but he still has designs on playing professionally. Running a 4.39 in the 40, like he did at Pro Day, can’t hurt.
“I definitely think I could slip into the draft,” Ross said. “It depends on what teams are looking for. You never know how it will work out.”
Most draft projections have Ross going the free agent route. He said he already has a workout scheduled with the 49ers on March 20 and plans on working out for the Seattle Seahawks as well (why not, it seems half their roster is now made up of Cal alums).
Ross can gain confidence from seeing what happened to former Cal reciever Verran Tucker, who went undrafted last season but has made his mark with the Kansas City Chiefs.
“I see him doing a great job and it definitely me a lot of confidence that I could do it, too,” Ross said.
