Regarding that last link to WSU...
I'm upset right now.

I believe Steve Kelley in his support of Ken Bone (specifically). And I believe Ken Bone should not necessarily be blamed for the pot smoking ways of his players.

What upsets me is how laize faire everyone seems to be about it.

1) Posters on this website don't seem to care about pot smoking,

2) WSU players (Thompson prominently quoted) blows it off - at on Casto's part, saying "Obviously his rights were violated. He was hounded, I think, and profiled. ...He was really, really violated in the way he was treated." As if that makes it okay. Point is, he had pot in his apartment. What's up with that? Nobody has ever said he didn't have pot in his apartment.

3) Columnist Steve Kelley himself even blows it is with statements like: "Let's remember that the citations are microscopic offenses on the grand scale of student-athlete-related crimes. Sure, the players were in the wrong, but the citations smack of harassment."

To me, it's about character. People I respect don't spoke pot. They don't have it in their possession. And they don't make excuses for others when it is discovered on them. To me, marijuana is a mind altering drug and part of the overall drug abuse problem that we have in this country. Therefore, it is unacceptable.

I suppose the Mormons can impose even stricter moral codes that I would apply. I think it's equally a joke how they suspended that player for having consensual premarital sex with his girlfriend. That's a normal human bodily function - equally mind altering but perhaps nature's own remedy to life's stresses.

Perhaps the solution is for Universities to get out of the business of imposing penalties upon athletes that go beyond the scope of the law.

But let's not get into a line of thinking that drug use is okay. It's a problem in our society, and I'll draw the line there.

Therefore, Steve, the one liners will continue. WSU basketball is a bunch of pot smoking chumps!
