If JB is getting $700k…yeah you have to go. I can’t imagine Cal paying more then $300k a year but I really don’t know.

Also I heard JB wanted to be closer to her mom who is getting older. Seems like a no-brainer, get paid more, stable program with success, be closer to family and your roots.

Boyle agreed to a five-year contract that will pay her $700,000 a season. She also gets a $125,000 signing bonus and another $125,000 if she stays all five years.

If this were the men’s basketball coach, we’d already know the details of why coach left.

I saw it suggested in some article somewhere that Cal’s athletic department was on the downswing (financial cuts, as we’ve seen in other sports like Baseball, Rugby, et al) and that Boyle could get back close to her Duke roots at Virginia (and presumably avoid the cuts at Cal). However, I have no way of knowing if that is true or not. Meanwhile, I am curious what impact the disappointing season and the subsequent transfer of stud center Denisha Stallworth had to do with Boyle’s decision…. Hmmm….

Both Cal and UVa are public institutions, and so the Coach’s salaries are known. I don’t know where to look for such information. If anyone wants to jump on this thought, please be my guest. Boyle seemed to me like a great coach that was going to lead the Bear for the next 20 years, usurping some of Vandeveer’s prominence along the way. That Stallworth and Boyle suddenly bolted still has me feeling sorry for myself.

Would be a good hire, particularly if Charmin Smith were to remain on the staff. Lindsay did an excellent job with player development (posts) when she was at Cal and would be a good fit for the program on a number of levels.
