New Mexico hired longtime associate head coach Yvonne Sanchez over the weekend, meaning Bowling Green coach Curt Miller could still be a candidate to take the Cal job. Miller, considered one of the up-and-coming coaches in the country, reportedly interviewed twice for the New Mexico job. It has been reported that Miller has also interviewed for the Cal opening, along with former assistant and current UCSB head coach Lindsay Gottlieb. Also, UCLA filled its vacancy by hiring Florida State assistant Cori Close on Friday (a former UCSB point guard whom I covered during my days in Santa Barbara…sigh, memories….)
