Football: Another Friday game for Cal

For the second straight season, Cal will play a Friday night game on ESPN. This time, it’s the day after Thanksgiving. The Pac-10 and ESPN announced today that the Bears game at Arizona State will take place on Friday, Nov. 25 at 7:15 p.m. Last year, Cal played a Friday night game on ESPN at Nevada.

Here is the complete ESPN/ABC schedule. You’ll see the two previous Cal games that were announced, the two Thursday night games – at Oregon and at home against USC. Other ESPN/ABC games will be added as part of the 12-day window guidelines during the season.

    Jesus Christ, that’s just wrong.

  • Danthecalfan

Good timing, it will give us one extra day of preparation for the conference title game.

  • 707 Bear

Bruce Jenkins had it right in Sunday’s Chron: College football should be played on Saturday at 1PM, end of story.

The new Pac 12 TV deal is another sign that the old days are over.

  • Rocko

A game on Black Friday? That’s just sacrilegious!

  • Hunter

Whats wrong is SC, Oregon and AS all nationally televised. I know it is an opportunity but more likely Cal gets owned in each one and takes a big hit in national perception.

  • gobears91

National exposure is never a bad thing if you want to be taken seriously. You cannot (and should not) fear your competition and it’s great for recruiting.

  • CalKyle

How can you think this is bad? Last year on friday after turkey day: Iron Bowl, Ore v. AZ, Nev v. Boise St. All three were great nationally televised games. It will be a great black friday.

  • abe

haha, is there any game left to be played on a saturday? these are not times for anyone who values tradition.

  • Calfan

Tradition means we only get the game on radio only while a buch of mediocre big ten and big 12 games are on TV. Screw tradition.

  • Jim

    Bingo, Calfan
Also hope the new tradition of kicked $C in their ass continues and maybe extend to tOSU and SEC.
Any Cal game on national TV is great, especially for those of us on the east coast who can’t get the regional TV games.

Wish Cal would schedule Virgina and at a decent hour.
Virgina has great academics and suffers from the same admission requirements that preclude non-student/athletes from enrolling.
