Football: More family ties

By Jonathan Okanes

Cal has received another oral commitment for 2012, and once again it’s from a player whose father played for the Bears.

Linebacker Hardy Nickerson Jr. has made his pledge to Cal. Nickerson Sr. was a standout for the Bears and then went on to a long NFL career.

Earlier this month, the Bears received an oral commitment from wide receiver Bryce Treggs, the son of former Cal receiver Brian Treggs.

Treggs is an elite talent and Hardy Jr. is an under the radar recruit with football in his blood and both have California in their hearts.
    Great gets for the Bears.
    Fired up about football recruiting.
    Very encouraging.

Really nice to see legacy commits. It’s great for the program.

Umm very interesting!!! One more player to mention under family radar. There is a player named Whiteside on Cal’s football team. Wondering if he’s related to Majett Whiteside, a teammate of hardy Nickerson, sr. In their old playing days. If so, quite interesting along wilt Treggs and Nickerson. Go Bears
