Football: Worrell Williams mentioned in Miami scandal

Former Cal linebacker Worrell Williams is mentioned as one of the Miami recruits who received improper benefits from booster Nevin Shapiro in a scathing investigative piece released Tuesday by Yahoo! Sports.
Williams, whose brother D.J. Williams attended Miami and also is listed as a player that received benefits, was recruited by Miami before deciding on Cal.

I got a parking ticket once, years before I attended Cal in the 90′s. I didn’t pay it on time and as a result, I incurred a late fee.
This proves that UC Berkeley is nothing more than a vast, criminal enterprise.

Well maybe the NCAA will have to take away your 5-7 season and all of the Rose Bowl and BCS games you won.

Here’s a link showing the extent of WW’s “involvement”:
http://sports.yahoo.com/investigations/news;_ylt=Ap_E9W6RIrTu8T7fzJ33p19RMuB_?slug=ys-worrell_williams_allegations
Basically, he went to a party at Shapiro’s house once with his older brother, who was a Miami player at the time. WW was a HS recruit at the time, had not yet committed to Cal, and was also being recruited by Miami. Shapiro spoke with him briefly at that party, which is a violation of NCAA rules that implicates Miami, not Cal. The extent of the “improper benefits” is that he got food and entertainment at the party from a Miami booster. WW says he was a 17 year old kid hanging out with his brother, and he didn’t even really know whose house he was at.
In other words, this is a Miami booster giving improper benefits (however small) to a Miami recruit (who probably didn’t even realize that he was at a Miami booster’s house) who then later signed with Cal. WW did nothing knowingly wrong. And, Cal had absolutely nothing to do with any of it, other than arguably being placed at a competitive disadvantage with a recruit because another school (this time, Miami) was cheating.

The NCAA only takes wins away from cheaters like USC who only won because of how well they cheated.
Share your fantasies of all the imaginary Cal punishments you want, troll, but all you accomplish is reminding everyone of the REAL sanctions currently imposed on the proven cheaters: USC.
Current USC sanctions:
Banned from championship games and bowl games, loss of numerous scholarships, forfeiture of many past wins.
Current Cal sanctions:
None.

Any reasons why your players who get into the most trouble and do the dumbest things have the same major?

“Current Cal Outright Pac 10 Championships:

Wrong. Cal shared the 2004 PAC-10 championship with cheating USC, but when USC was disgraced and stripped of their part of the title by the NCAA, Cal became the outright 2004 PAC-10 champions.

Agreed. It’s ridiculous that this troll is allowed to continue ruining this blog the way she does.
