Football: On the eve of the season
By Jonathan Okanes
Friday, September 2nd, 2011 at 11:25 pm in Football, upcoming game.
Tomorrow at this time we’ll know a lot more about the 2011 Cal Bears. This is my fifth season covering the team and the hardest to get a gauge on in the preseason. I think we all have a good idea the defense will be pretty good. It’s the offense that is an unknown.
Just a reminder to come here all season long for coverage, and follow me on Twitter (@OkanesonCal). As mentioned in a previous post, there also is a new Cal Twitter account for all Bay Area News Group writers (@CalBearsBANG).
Enjoy the game tomorrow. Looks like Fresno State fans will outnumber Cal fans. I’m interested to see what the total crowd will be. We only have numbers from both schools’ ticket offices at this point.
You can also hear me on Cal’s pregame show tomorrow on KGO 810-AM at around 3:15 p.m.

Have fun, JO.
You have put a lot of time into this season, too, and it is surely because, in addition to it being your job, you are also a fan – of the game, at least, if not also of the Bears.
So, enjoy your day at the office!
I have drunk the cool aide and am looking for not only a nice W, but believe we’ll see some nice upside surprise performances by many players.

JO
Give us your prediction of the game including the score. I will be watching the Grant vs Long Beach Poly game tonight. It should be a better game and unlike the Stick tonight, the stadium will be packed.

And I forgot to add, the Grant fans are quite a bit more knowledgable than the fans following this team.

Grant is a pretty good team with some integrity. As far as I know they have not been sanctioned for cheating like PAC-12 disgrace USC. Same goes for LB Poly – an honest, legitimate program who won’t have any of it’s wins vacated like the USC cheaters. Grant and LB Poly fans should be proud of their respective teams – USC fans, not so much.

Hey, so is there a way to follow JO on twitter?

$C’s looking pretty decent against Minnesota. Looks like they’ll be in a great position to go to a bowl game. Wait a second…
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:26 pm
If U$C wins today they will at least do better than 2005 when they were officially 0-13. If they win today will Robert Woods get a raise?
September 3rd, 2011 at 2:26 pm
HAHAHAHA…Sacramento State is up 14-3 against Oregon State in Corvallis after the first half. That is a better game than the Social Welfare, Sociology, American Studies team from Berkley has recently done against the Beavs. HAHAHAHA
And yes Will. It looks like Robert Woods vs Andrew Luck for the Heisman, an award that you staters have never known.

Best of all, if Sac State wins they probably won’t have to vacate the win later on since they are not a bunch of disgraceful cheaters like U$C.
September 3rd, 2011 at 3:42 pm
And there is your winner.
USC – 19
Gophers – 17

u$c looked pretty sad having to struggle to hold off the gophers. And at home, to boot. No wonder kiffin looked so subdued and concerned during the end of game interview. Bye bye to that #25 preseason ranking…
