Defense looked great. WRs looked dynamic. Maynard was nervous but showed why he is no doubt our #1 QB – he’ll only get better with time. Play calling was MUCH better than the past couple of years. Special Teams were scary (that new coach needs to step up), but the biggest concern was the running game. We had nothing between the tackles. Sweeps and misdirection worked but nothing up the middle. We need size – Sofele is fine on the edges. I thought the JC transfer(CJ Anderson) looked good, why didn’t he get more reps? Overall, nice win over a talented team. GO BEARS!!
I’m wondering if our lack of running game will move our offense to a sort of a hybrid west-coast/spread scheme to set up the running game instead of the other way around. And yes, I agree with gobears91. We need to drastically improve ST or there is going to a lot of close games that are going to be a loss.
JT running the zone read. Who would have thunk it even if we do have a mobile qb. good to see the diversity of plays and the less predictable plays.
