Its halftime 21-20 and this game is being shown in Texas- a great excuse not to do any work.
Maynard seems to have improved slightly from the first couple of games and may finish completing half of his passes.

Our defense once again is not living up to pre-season expectations. At this rate Washington will score more than it has against mediocre teams. 21 in the half 24 if they had made that field goal.

Maybe this game will be decided by coaching. Who can better make the adjustments?

I am almost completely pleased with the team’s first half performance. The defense was solid, IMO, with only a few plays where they were beaten strategically, the majority of the Washington offense has been Price simply making plays.

I could not be more impressed with Price. What a player! I have not seen a pass first QB with his athleticism, maybe ever. Sark has done a wonderful job with this kid. The future of UW looks really good.

My sole complaint is Tedford’s usage of a no back formation, which I do not believe I have seen make more than one positive play so far this season (did not see the Presb. game, but wouldn’t count it anyways). The defense has almost always blitzed from this look, and I do not think Tedford has coached Maynard up enough for the hot reads as he has rushed them. A few QB draws against those predictable blitzes, with the WRs clearing the middle, would be a great call.

Last, Maynard has impressed me with his ability to look off and pump fake off coverages, but I do believe he only does them when planned, as opposed to checking down. Still, it is great to see because it is so useful.

Go Bears! Let’s see a great 2nd half!

Why didn’t we go for 2 points???

  • Chris

@cow: defense was solid? Were we watching the same game? 🙂

  • The Wisdom Cow

I wondered about that, too, Scottybear.

Theoretically, if you believe there will be a lot more scoring still, I guess you take the sure thing extra point. Maybe Tedford is just hedging his bets thinking it may be a bunch of FGs instead of TDs in the second half, and he valued the 1 point more than the chance at 0.

I would have gone for 2.

Because we have the ball to start the 2nd half
