Football: Cal-Utah not picked up by networks, will likely still be televised locally

Cal’s home game against Utah on Saturday, Oct. 22 was not selected by the television networks that have contracts with the Pac-12 today under the 12-day rule. Each week, there are games left open for the networks to choose from 12 days before it takes place in order for them to choose what they feel is the best matchup.

Oregon-Colorado and Washington State-Oregon State each were picked up by Fox Sports Net.

But Cal officials are working on having the game produced locally, most likely by Comcast SportsNet California. That announcement could come tomorrow.

Wow…when Washington State vs. Oregon State is more attractive than your game, you know you’ve hit rock bottom!

  • Uh Huh!

Still no game time posted, only TBA.

It would be nice if they could say “We will announce the Game Time no later than X date, Y hour.” That way, Bear Fans could decide if they were going to go to the game or not. As it is, our schedules are all held hostage.

Sure, they want to hold out and try to make some TV revenue. I totally get and accept that. But any business still needs to take care of its customers.

Uh Huh, just buy season tickets.

  • Uh Huh!

Thank you, Larry. The family has 10 of them on the 50 yard line for more years than you have been alive (give or take). But who among us will attend? Who can say? We don’t know what time it is, so we can’t plan our day/evening. We have both old and young to consider.

You know what? Maybe we should just have our family of Bears tailgate at the house -the facility hours are reliable.

This type of schedule muckery, not the pricing (although that causes its own pause), is driving us out of the market.

There is nothing attractive about Oregon at Colorado. Nothing.

Not that much attractive about two teams riding 3-game losing streaks, either. The TV folks are already counting on Utah going down to Pitt and Cal doing its annual el fold to the Trojans. Who outside of Berkeley and SLC wants to tune into that?
