Nnamdi Asomugha and Aaron Rodgers named NFL’s 10th and 11th nicest players. Go Bears!
A number of season ticket folks at places like Cal & UCLA are on the verge of dropping out. I saw my 1st Cal game in 1954 & had season tickets for many years. But the game times & last minute time settings are insulting & treat us like chumps. Two problems. 1st, geography & weather. Night games make sense in Arizona & Southern California, not in Northern California & especially in Berkeley with no parking. 2d, 12 day & 6 day notice of game times are insulting. The Cal athletic dept needs to lead the charge & get the conference to take control back from TV. The NFL made the decision decades ago to please the fans buying tickets & the game times are set way ahead of time. I’m thinking about getting some Raider or 49er tickets for day games next year. I have had it with the night games & last minute settings of game times. Unfortuantely for future attendance, it’s not just me who is fed up.
You are right on. Cal football program, on and off the field, has become 2nd rate.
I have been a season ticket holder for 15 years now and will continue to support the program; but, it has become increasingly difficult to maintain a positive outlook.
Bobsac — Unfortunately, the new media deals, which are giving each school in the Pac millions more each year, mean that we are stuck with more Thursday night games, more late game times and late notice. It’s one more trade-off that pushes college football away from a sport for student athletes. It’s all business now.
I have been going to Cal games for 25 years, and I can recall a lot of instances where games were moved up to late afternoon or night for television. A 4 p.m. start at AT&T sounds pretty good after a mid-afternoon tailgate or hanging out at MoMo’s for a few beers.
Hell, start the game at 10 p.m. for all I care. Just give me a team that is competitive and has a chance to beat a USC every third or fourth year. My problem with Cal is what has become institutionalized mediocrity where we lose to a USC every year and are not competitive against the good teams, all the while making excuses for our overpaid head coach.
An announcement 11 days before the game isn’t enough time?? Come on man. Complaining just to hear yourself complaining is insulting and sounds like the chump. Go ahead and drop your season tickets there are plenty of people waiting behind you to pick them up. Get over it.
It’s no fun when Cal fans attack each other. Unless they are co-eds covered in oil, and that never happens.
Rollon, ‘co-eds’ is so 60′s.
