Bizarre secrecy (closed practices), overt hostility towards the media, subtle intimidation disguised as sturdy benevolence, a bizarre attachment to sunglasses, repetitive propaganda, overstatement of achievement, a near cult like following, flagrant nepotism (his son was installed on the team), scared colleagues (Barbour), nefarious courtship of valuable foot soldiers (KA), all while living in a remote compound far from his people (Lafayette).

Tedford has become a bloated dictator.

I’m mostly a Tedford supporter, but he does leave me scratching my head sometimes. He’s absolutely right not to tip his hand as to which QB will be the starter. It doesn’t matter whether you’re playing WSU or Alabama, you don’t telegraph your moves if you don’t have to. WSU now has to try to prepare for more contingencies.

Still, I don’t know why Tedford has been so stubborn about not letting Bridgford play, even if it’s just for a series or two so that Maynard get his head straight again. When he arrived at Cal, Tedford made a point of sitting any running back who fumbled, for at least a series. Obviously, you can’t do that with a QB every time he throws a pick. But after two picks and countless other misfires, it’s a disservice to the rest of the team not to bring in someone else, if for no other reason than for a change of pace.

Covinared – you’ve always been a defender/Kool Aid Drinker; I love that you suggest that Tedford is keeping his cards close to the vest to not tip off the powerful WSU Cougars. Sort of like how he closes practices to the media because that has made all of the difference in making sure we have a chance to get the Rose Bowl.

Tedford isn’t the Michael here, or even the Sonny. At best he’s become Freddo – way over his head, clueless, and not above selling out the family.

Maynard seems to be getting the “KID GLOVE” treatment by the press and the fans. Remeber back to the poor old Nate Longshore days. If he had played two games like SC and UCLA, peoples would have demanded his head on a chopping block, they would have wanted to hang him by his none too accurate thumbs.

Maynard is in way over his head. It’s not just the interceptions, but the poor passing accuracy and an inability to run the offense. The experiment should end now. What is there to lose by giving Bridgford a shot? The season is slipping away fast!
