UCLA coach Ben Howland, who had given Reeves Nelson an indefinite suspension earlier this week, reinstated the junior forward on Wednesday, in time for him to join the Bruins on their trip to the Maui Invitational.
Here’s the news release from UCLA.
Meanwhile . . .
— Boise State 80, Utah 59: There may be a lot of nights like this for the Utes (1-1), who barely beat San Diego Christian in their opener. Josh Watkins scored 19 points and Anthony Odunsi added 14 but Utah had 19 turnovers and was outrebounded by nine.
– Oregon State 82, Hofstra 72: The Beavers, 3-0 for the first time in 11 years, got a career-high 35 points from San Leandro HS grad Jared Cunningham and 25 from Devon Collier, also a career-high. Cunningham is averaging 25.7 ppg through three games.

UCLA only reinstated Nelson so that he wouldn’t sulk even more about not getting to go to Hawaii.
