Wow. That is good news, but the Bears have a couple of legit opponents coming up pre-conference (in addition to SDSU, UNLV at the T&M is a potential beat-down). With a loss to one of those, Cal surely will fall out of the polls.

Heck, if they manage to win one of those and enter P-12 play with just two losses, given the strength of their non-con schedule, I think that’s a great accomplishment.

In any event, in my opinion, even if the Bears lose BOTH of those games, from what we’ve seen in the other P-12 teams’ pre-con games, Cal still looks good to take this conference.

I’m glad the voters aren’t ignoring the beat down of Georgia or the circumstances of the final score of the Mizzou game as much as the author of this blog.* 24th is about right.

It’s a sign the Bears have earned some credibility with this team. Past Cal teams were punished immediately for laying an egg on the national scene.

Good for the Bears to have weathered the strapping they experienced against Mizzou, without dropping out of the national picture.

If they can learn from that game, and handle SDSU on the road–a big if!–they perhaps can maintain their national exposure all season.

We shall see.
