FINAL SCORE: Cal 81, San Jose State 35. Crabbe finishes with 18 points, Gutierrez 14, Cobbs 10 and Kravish has nine points and 10 rebounds in his starting debut. Bears are 7-2. SJS shoots 20.3 percent and falls to 3-6. Cal home Sunday vs. Jackson State, which is 1-7 without a win over a D-I.

10:59 2nd H: Yes, we’re still here. Cal leads 60-22. It was a 40-point lead a moment ago.

15:49 2nd H: Cal scored the first 11 points of the half and now leads 54-16. We must all have something better to do.

HALFTIME SCORE: Cal 43, San Jose State 15. Cal shooting 55.2 percent from the field, is 3 for 3 from 3-point and 8 for 8 from FT line. Has outrebounded the Spartans 24-12. Crabbe has 14 points, Crabbe and Gutierrez each have 10. The Bears have 12 assists to one for SJS. Spartans shooting 21.4 percent and are 0 for 5 from 3-point range. Wil Carter scored their first 11 points through the game’s opening 18 minutes. The rest of the SJS players were 0 for 15 at the time.

FINALLY, A PAC WIN: Colorado beats Fresno State 71-61, improving the Pac-12 to 1-3 on the night. Ugh.

7:31 1st H: Bears’ lead is up to 30-7. This is gruesome. Cal shooting 58 percent from the field, has not missed from 3-point or FT and has only one turnover. SJS shooting 3 for 19 for 15.8 percent with four turnovers.

11:08 1st H: Cal leads 20-5. Bears have cooled to 61.5 percent. SJS is at 16.7 percent on 2 for 11. Gutierrez has eight points, Crabbe has seven. Bak Bak and Brandon Smith have entered the game.

AND THIS: Cal State Fullerton traveled to Salt Lake City and routed short-handed Utah 81-50. Utes are 1-7.

14:32 1st H: If you’re coming to the game tonight and haven’t gotten here, you might reconsider. Cal leads 15-2 at the first timeout and Gutierrez is going to the line for two FTs. The Bears have scored on seven of their first eight possessions and are shooting 87.5 percent (7 for 8) from the field. Of course, when you have five layups and dunks in the first 5 minutes, things go easier. The Spartans are shooting 1 for 7 and haven’t scored on their past seven possessions.

ANOTHER PAC-12 SCORE: Nevada beat Arizona State 69-61 in Tempe.

A SOLOMON SIGHTING: Suspended sophomore forward Richard Solomon is on the bench in street clothes, so he hasn’t been banished from the premises. This is his second game out.

THIS SCORE JUST IN: No. 12 Florida held off Arizona 78-72 in overtime at Gainesville, Fla.

STARTING LINEUPS: A new look lineup for the Bears, who will start Allen Crabbe, Harper Kamp, Jorge Gutierrez, Justin Cobbs and, for the first time in his young Cal career, freshman David Kravish. SJS will go with Jaleel Williams, Wil Carter, Matt Ballard, James Kinney and Keith Shamburger.

WELCOME: Back at Haas Pavilion as the Bears (6-2) take on San Jose State (3-5). Cal is 18-0 all-time against the Spartans in Berkeley. Back with starting lineups.

just got back from the game. This was quite the beat down. The boys seemed to be playing their frustrations off their chests.

Harper had another off-night though. Kept getting into foul trouble with several charges called against him. I think he only had 4 points in the end.
