Basketball: Huskies hold off UC Santa Barbara

Three more victories — including Cal — for the Pac-12 on Friday. The league is still unbeaten for the week, despite the fact that Utah played. Amazing . . .

   — Washington 87, UC Santa Barbara 80: Tony Wroten Jr. tied a freshman school record with 27 points as the Huskies (5-4, 5-0 at home) snapped a three-game losing streak and topped the Gauchos (5-3), who will visit Cal on Monday. Abdul Gaddy scored 17 for UW and Terrence Ross had 16. Santa Barbara, which previously lost to San Diego State (in overtime) and UNLV (in double-overtime), got 24 points from senior guard Orlando Johnson. Yes, Johnson will be Jorge Gutierrez’s next defensive assignment.

   — Utah 71, Idaho State 59: The Utes (2-8) snapped an eight-game losing streak and scored their first victory of the season over a Division I opponent . . . albeit not a very good one. Idaho State (2-8) also has just one victory over a D-I team. Guard Cedric Martin scored a season-high 19 points for Utah while center Jason Washburn had 17 points and nine rebounds.
