I believe Franklin left because he wanted to play point guard, a position he thought would give him a better chance to play in the NBA rather than a shooting guard. The time to be talking about him again is his senior year and then assess his chances for his point guard goal.

Just to remind everyone — I’ve gone out on a limb and stated Gutierrez will be MVP in the Pac 12 this year and will make an NBA squad next year as a point guard. I haven’t read any comments on my aggressive picks.
