Basketball: Jerome Randle scores 17 for Mavs

Ex-Cal star Jerome Randle, trying to land a spot on the defending world champion Dallas Mavericks’ roster, scored a team-high 17 points on Tuesday night in an 87-83 exhibition loss to Oklahoma City.

The Bears’ career scoring leader shot 7 for 11 from the field and made both of his 3-point tries in a productive 18-minute stint.

Great! Even if it’s for cuban. Go, Jerome!

it would be good for recruiting if we could get some guys in the league that Monty coached.

That’s excellent! It would make me more interested in the NBA, if Jerome was playing…

I watched the first half of the game…against all those NBA veterans Jerome looks about 5’2″, 125 pounds. There was a funny moment when Jerome drove to the basket to attempt a layup. Perkins or Mohammed (not sure which) beat the ball down just as Jerome jumped into the air. In real time, it looked like Jerome jumped up into a ceiling, and then fell to the floor.

“Welcome to the NBA, Mr. Randle!”

But glad to hear he’s doing well, and hope he makes the team.

Have followed Randle since he was a scary backup for the Bears and all the way up to his MVP Senior PAC 10 Championship year. Best news of the day! I am so happy for this guy! I hope he sticks in the NBA. What a story if he does. Nice work Jerome! Go BEARS! BEAT UNLV WITH EXTREME PREJUDICE! YOUR NEXT JORGE! NBA JORGE!

Too bad Kidd and Randle are both point guards, since if one of them were a shooting guard they could have both been on the floor at the same time for the Mavs, which would have been exciting for Cal fans. But it’s kind of hard to see Randle making the team, though I hope he does.
