Assuming a second or third place finish in the Pac 12, I think that Cal still gets into the NCAA Tourney, even if they lose to UNLV. But I agree that this is a really critical game seeding-wise. If the Bears manage to beat the Rebs on their own floor, it’s going to go a very long way toward getting them an upper-half seed. They could be as high as a 6 or even 5 with this one and a strong conference season (e.g., 27-4, 16-2).

A loss, though, and I can’t see them rising above an 8, even if they win the Pac 12.

Man, it would have been nice to get that win in San Diego.

i don’t think there’s any way we don’t make the tourney. we’ll win at least 23 games. unless we bow out in the pac10 tourney in game 1, we’ll be in. all of our tough games have been, and will be, on the road. that has to count for something.

Need this game – this is the difference between a virtual lock to the NCAA and a 7-seed or better and being a teetering bubble team (unless we win the Pac-12 tourney).

I agree that we should have won in San Diego, but isn’t that actually a negative. Good teams don’t lose games they “should have won.” We’ll be ranked if we win this next one, for sure, at least in the Coaches poll. Go Bears!

I agree with Jeff this is a crucial game; in fact he understates its importance. If we beat UNLV we are legitimately a good team and perhaps should be ranked in all the polls. We would also have a good chance to keep these rankings throughout the season.

If we lose we may not be ranked for a few years,yes years. We are not going to impress much by being at the top of what CBS referred to as a “mid-major conference”.
