Only one Pac-12 team in action today besides Cal . . .
— UCLA 71, Richmond 63: The Bruins (7-5) got 16 points from senior guard Lazeric Jones and double-figure scoring from four other players to improve to 5-0 since Reeves Nelson was booted from the team. Travis Wear, recovered from a skin infection in his foot, added 14 points on 6 for 9 shooting.

Jeff I see these threads about UCLA w/out Nelson and are you presenting an interesting coincidence or are you claiming there is a causal relationship here (ie he was disruptive or he played in place of a better player).
To do the latter you might have to show the caliber of teams UCLA played with Nelson vs those after he left.

Steve – look at the caliber of some of the teams they lost to with Nelson.

I have no doubt that they will play better without the distraction, but they haven’t played anyone since Nelson left the team. We’ll see next week how good they are.

Richmond isn’t terrible. Winning fairly close games against a team like UR doesn’t suggest they’re good, though.

I don’t think it matters in the grand scheme. UCLA sucks period.
