Cal got a commitment from Matt Cochran, a 6-foot-4, 340-pound center from Buhach Colony HS in Atwater. Cochran, a three-star prospect, made his announcement at the Semper Fidelis Bowl, a national high school all-star game in Phoenix, Ariz., according to Rivals.com.
Rivals rates Cochran as the nation’s No. 3 center prospect. Scout.com lists him as the seventh-rated center.
Cochran picked the Bears over Tennessee and Auburn.

340 lbs as a high schooler? holy crap.

With this addition at center and the other offensive linemen that have verbally committed to Cal, it won’t be long until we can confidently chant, “The fourth quarter is ours!” Go Bears!

Per usual, I really like the recruiting class. I’m especially encouraged that we’ve got some big O Lineman coming in as Texas exposed the O Line in a brutal fashion.

Great to see jm working it as a recruiter and getting some quality o line.
Rotfogel, meant to say this earlier – holidays, etc – I agree the o line wasn’t dominant like the previous 4 game stretch. IMO What killed us in second half of 3rd and 4 quarters was botched/non existent blitz pick ups which I put on the te’s and rb’s. zm and coaches also shoulder blame.
I hope the class is as amazing as it seems! Go Bears!

USC never even sniffed at him. He didn’t want to compete.

What an idiotic comment from the moron! Did both Auburn and Tennessee try to recruit the guy because he didn’t want to compete? Did he not want to compete when he was selected for, and played in, the national all star game referenced by JF? Really, moron, what little credibility you may have ever had is in complete shreds with comments like those. Maybe if you stopped being a trash talking jerk on this blog people might actually care about your opinions? Give it some thought, assuming you are capable.

Sometimes this blog gets me. I had read this one already, AND I had seen it earlier on different scouting reports. Yet, After reading the “Oregon State Scouting Report” (above) for basketball, and just skimming down instead of paying close attention, I had about 0.3 seconds where I thought Monty had landed a 340 pound Center.
Oh, a 0.3 second moment of bliss.

Amy is pretty funny.

Kline made a 32yd td pass in the black/white game on espn. Pass was way behind the receiver. An incredible catch. But you never know with these games if it was just a bad route. Not bad on 3rd and 9. Lots of zip. Tight spiral. Accuracy might be an issue, though.

With recruiting signing day coming up on 2/1, it’s fun to get excited about another strong class and to hope Tedford can create a game plan around his players strengths. Still don’t understand why he burned Bigelow’s redshirt freshman year for a few carries against Presbyterian and nada hardly thereafter.
Moron: Hope you enjoyed watching DeAnthony Thomas in the Rose Bowl. Hope you, Carson Palmer, Matt Leinart, Pete Carroll and Reggie Bush enjoy watching Aaron Rodgers win another Super Bowl! Go Bears!!

ScottyBear:
JT has assigned Bigelow to return kickoffs for most of the season.

Boaltblue: I saw Bigelow back there but seems Mike Manuel usually was the one who always got the ball. Seems a bit of a waste if he wasn’t going to get carries at tailback – which he did against Washington but nothing really after. Thanks.

Scottybear:
In terms of Bigelow don’t think they quite realized what they had with CJ yet. Both him and Isi came on strong mid season when there were question marks to start. As others have mentioned they needed a return man too.
January 6th, 2012 at 2:05 pm
Bigelow had 23 returns, Manuel only 12.

He hasn’t been able to do it for 10 seasons why do you think he can do it in the 11th one?
