Football: Armstead says he has not decided

By Jeff Faraudo
Thursday, January 12th, 2012 at 4:31 pm in Football, Recruiting.

If Arik Armstead knows where he is headed to college, he’s not saying.

Just got off the phone with the 6-foot-8, 275-pound lineman from Pleasant Grove HS in Elk Grove and he confirmed he will visit Auburn this weekend, then pick a school among Cal, Oregon, Notre Dame and Auburn.

“I’m going to Auburn tonight and when I get back I’ll decide where I’m going,” he said, noting that classes at those schools begin Monday or Tuesday.

It’s not a done deal, he told me.

“I like Cal, but the other schools they have good things about them, too.”

Scout.com rates Armstead  as the nation’s No. 2 overall prospect. He graduated from high school in December in order to enroll in college for the spring term.

Interesting. If I’m not mistaken class started at Oregon and Auburn this week. Cal and ND start next Tuesday.

Registration close for Notre Dame in November.

  • Juancho

Almost got a ticket checking your blog jeff. No bigger compliment than that.

If he were committing anywhere else he wouldnt be travellkng this weekend. Report is shitty will commit in a few days too.

    Nice language Juancho

It’s not exactly going out on a limb to predict that aa is coming to cal. But it wasn’t exactly going out in a limb to predict a Steeler victory over the broncos, either, so I’ll just wait and hope he decides to come here, as we’d love to have him.

  • Juancho

Dangit. Meant shittu. Texting while walking is hard

  • Will

lol juancho, and here I thought you meant that moren was finally going to be committed to a mental institution!

  • Uh Huh!

    Juancho:
    Please don’t text and drive.
It’s not possible to get a ticket for texting while driving.
    Thank you.

    Texting While Driving Statistics

About 6,000 deaths and a half a million injuries are caused by distracted drivers every year.
While teenagers are texting, they spend about 10 percent of the time outside the driving lane they’re supposed to be in.
Talking on a cell phone while driving can make a young driver’s reaction time as slow as that of a 70-year-old.
Answering a text takes away your attention for about five seconds. That is enough time to travel the length of a football field.

  • Uh Huh!

I meant, “It’s not possible to get a ticket for texting while WALKING.”

    ‘Accidental typo’ Sure

  • Juancho

Haha maybe it was subliminal for the usc person.

  • Bobby

Hope the whole Armstrad family makes a choice they’re happy with.

Obvioulsy, as a cal guy, I’d point to the number of cal d linemen in the NFL right now, and the fact that as I’m currently watching the Csl buffs b ball game our bears could use someone w muscle and skill down low.

    Go bears!

  • Bobby

Whoops a few spelling/grammatical mistakes. Chalk it up to exuberance for the b ball team

  • Juancho

Typos seem to be the theme of todays comments. Maybe friday the 13 is getting an early start

Let’s not focus too much on Armstead. Give him his space. Its a big decison. If he wants to spend his college years in Alabama somewhere, that’s his decision, and it should be respected. Check out Kyle Murphy from San Clemente on the scout board. Apparently, we are on the top of his list.

  • Juancho

Murphy has stanford as his leader and word is he commits to the cardinal this weekend or coming week.
