Marathon: Ex-Cal star Lewy Boulet 10th at trials

No, it’s not football or basketball but for those who are interested, former Cal star and 2008 Olympian Magdalena Lewy Boulet was 10th this morning at the U.S. Olympic marathon trials in Houston. She needed a top-3 finish to qualify for the London Games.

Lewy Boulet, a 38-year-old Oakland resident, ran the 26.1 miles in 2 hours, 33 minutes, 42 seconds.

Another Cal alum, Brooke Wells, was 19th in 2:36:24.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming.

    Here’s some football news.

Craig Stevens recently signed at 4-year, $15 million deal with the Titans.

The Broncos signed David Binn, long-snapper extraordinaire for this week’s game!

You can sign a player after the regular season? That’s ridiculous.

Jeff love these posts. The more sports the better. I will read all sports please cover baseball here

  • Uh Huh!

    Rollon:
    What’s wrong with that?

JF: What was Lewy Boulet a Cal Star for?
    Cross Country? Track?

If you can sign a long snapper for the post season, you should be able to sign a qb, too. So suppose a team makes the playoffs with a decent record, but loses the last few games of the season because their QB has a broken leg. Then the team decides they’ll sign Brett Favre for the playoffs. That would be cool? It’s not allowed in baseball. I don’t think it should be allowed in Football either. Your roster should be set for the post season based on the way it looks at year end. I guess if he’s on the practice squad already, that’s ok, but I got the impression they picked him up out of nowhere, that’s all.

Uh Huh — Lewy ran cross country and track for Cal, finishing third in the 5,000-meter run at the 1997 NCAA track meet. In reality, she has been far more successful as a post-collegiate runner. Lives in Oakland with her husband, former Cal runner Richie Boulet.
