Football: Kline, Okafor begins classes

By Jeff Faraudo
Tuesday, January 17th, 2012 at 8:52 pm in Football, Recruiting.

It only seems like everyone is leaving Cal.

Quarterback Zach Kline of San Ramon Valley HS and offensive lineman Christian Okafor of Westbury HS in Houston arrived on campus Tuesday and began classes as the spring semester got under way.

Kline was rated the No. 3 quarterback in the country by Rivals.com after passing for 3,630 yards with 36 touchdown passes last fall.

Okafor was rated as a four-star recruit by ESPN and Max Preps who was rated as the No. 30 offensive tackle in the country by ESPN.

    Welcome!
Every time I’ve logged on in the last couple days it’s been bad news or a disgruntled alum dogging jt who kinda sorta had a point.
    Finally some good news.
Jeff, great job! Your work is much appreciated.
    Go Bears!

I can only say that I hope the new golden bears will emerge from their Cal experience with enough class not to write posts like #6 above. As my beautiful asian daughter would say, “sheesh.”

First off im part asian. Second my fellow asian folks make up 40% of the cal undergrad population. Its a numbers game.

Jeff, just wanted to say thanks for taking over the football reporting duties so willingly and thoroughly. You’re doing a great job, right in the middle of basketball season no less. Much appreciated, especially with so much commotion the last couple days.

Zach and Christian: King Pin Donuts for breakfast; Top dog for lunch, Blondies Pizza for dinner. On weekends, when Mom and Dad visit, take them to the omlette place above Durant Court.

Here’s to Kline starting in 2013 as a redshirt freshman, the same way another redshirt freshman across the bay down on the farm started a few years ago…
