Some interesting stuff from the Sacramento Bee on Elk Grove’s Arik Armstead and how his recruitment could be impacted by Cal’s hiring of Todd Howard as the new D-line coach.

Cal will have top 10 class this year. Cal is back

  2. Juancho Says:

I think the bigger and scarier impact is the timing. Oregon offers the first school to start a new quarter. And now Alabama is involved.

He was set to start classes at Cal last tuesday. But idiot lupoi screwed this up for us.

  3. CalBearister Says:

And now comes in for home visits recruiting him on behalf of Washington. I wonder if Sark puts Tosh in a vinyl miniskirt and high heels when sending him out to turn his tricks for the Huskies.

  4. K Scott Says:

I would hope Armstead’s family which has pride and integrity would throw out the disloyal and despicable Lupoi !

  5. Rollonubears Says:

I can’t wait until feb1. I am getting so sick I this ridiculous speculation.

    Hey Juancho,

You and I are on the same page with regard to Lupoi. How do you get your inside information as to what recruits are saying and tweeting to one another?

  7. The Wisdom Cow Says:

That Howard was the first to offer Arik a scholly 3 years ago sure does add some umpf to the visit.

  8. Gobears49 Says:

    Hey Juancho,

Haven’t brought this up before, but do you agree that Sandy, if she really wanted to consider all alternatives to keep Lupoi in the program, should have asked Tedford to give up some of his salary to do so?

After all, she could gently point out, Cal has not done very well in recent years, after Tedford got a big increase in salary. CEO’s get reductions in their pay all of the time (though not usually in the middle of a contract), and Tedford would show his devotion to Cal and keep the recent uptick in Cal’s football program (the recent upgrade in facilities, the stadium, and all of the excellent players who have orally committed to Cal) on a roll by making an effort to keep his key recruiter, who had a lot of credibility with recruits that Cal was the school to come to, given all of his years at Cal (Lupoi can no longer say that working at UW). Plus, Tedford would score a few points with a lot of the alumni if he agreed to do that.

  9. Juancho Says:

Gobears, i think had tedford offered it would make him look like a gracious guy. The feasibility though is hard bc of the administration.

There are a lot of other sites i dig through on top of twitter to find stuff out. I posed a comment with links but looks like it might not have made it past the moderator maybe bc of links. Well see.
